DESCRIPTION:Solveig Thoroddsen stundaði B.A. nám við Myndlistardeild LHÍ 2007-2010 og útskrifaðist með mastergráðu frá sama skóla árið 2015. Hún hefur verið virkur myndlistarmaður allar götur síðan.  Solveig vinnur í ýmsa miðla eða þá sem hentar hverju sinni og eru viðfangsefnin gjarna samskipti manneskjunnar og náttúrunnar: \,\,Hvernig manneskjan hefur búið um sig í veröldinni er mér hugleikið\, allt frá því að komast af í náttúrunni og til samfélagslegra þátta. Hvernig hún kljáist við umhverfi sitt og settur mark sitt á það og eins hvernig náttúra og umhverfi bregst við.“ \nUmfjöllunarefnið er hér í stóra samhenginu manneskjan vs. náttúran (allt lífríki)\, aðskilnaður eða samruni\, valdbeiting eða samvinna\, neysla eða náttúruvernd. \nÞetta stóra verkefni sem við stöndum frammi fyrir núna\, að halda jörðinni lífvænlegri og sá möguleiki að vinna með náttúrunni og finna sameiginlega fleti og vinna út frá þeim\, þeirri heildarhugsun að við erum öll eitt. \nFramtíðin veltur á því hvernig koníakið fer í leiðtogana.

SUMMARY:Solveig Thoroddsen: Summit meeting
DESCRIPTION:Solveig Thoroddsen studied visual art at the Iceland University of the Arts 2007-2010\, graduating with a Master’s in 2015. She has been an active artist ever since\, working through various mediums\, whatever suits the occasion. Her practice explores the relationship between humans and nature\, \n“I am interested in how humans live in the world\, from survival to societal values—how humans put their mark on it and vice versa.” \nThe topic of discussion here in the larger context is: man vs. nature (the entire biosphere)\, separation or fusion\, violation or cooperation\, consumption or conservation. \nThis task we are facing is to reimagine our relationship—to work with nature\, find commonalities and experience the oneness of life. \nOur future rests in leadership\, whether brokered by brandy or not.

SUMMARY:IS/POL
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition IS/POL features graphic works by 20 artists from Iceland and Poland.\nSince 2017\, on the initiative and support of Jan Metejko Art Academy in Krakow\, there has been an artistic collaboration with Icelandic artists and art institutions that has included mutual visits\, seminars\, workshops\, and exhibitions.\nThe curators have chosen a group of artists from both countries to exhibit with them in Iceland. Later this year\, the exhibition continues in the new building of the Printmaking Department in the Art Academy in Krakow.\nMarta Bozyk adjunct and curator of IS/POL will be present at the opening in Iceland. DESCRIPTION:Á sýningunni IS/POL eru grafíkverk eftir 20 listamenn frá Íslandi og Póllandi.\nTilurð sýningarinnar er margþætt listrænt samstarf milli landanna undanfarin ár. Það hófst árið 2017 að frumkvæði Jan Metejko listaakademíunnar í Krakow við íslenska listamenn og listastofnanir og hefur m.a. innifalið gagnkvæmar heimsóknir\, málþing\, vinnustofur og sýningar.\nSýningarstjórarnir hafa nú valið hóp listamanna frá báðum löndum til að sýna með sér á Íslandi. Síðar á þessu ári heldur sýningin áfram við opnun nýrrar byggingar Grafíkdeildar Listaakademíunnar í Krakow.\nMarta Bozyk\, aðjúnkt við grafíkdeildina verður viðstödd opnunina á Íslandi.
