SUMMARY:Melanie Ubaldo: Almost Perfect
DESCRIPTION:Almost perfect is as anecdotal as all of my previous works.\nA complete stranger tells me something and it subconsciously has an immense effect on my practice. Talking about an old painting of mine that has since been “lost.” Almost perfect might just be the greatest compliment I’ve ever heard about my work. As if chasing the one that got away\, this exhibition is just one of many\, countless attempts at reclaiming/reimagining that which is almost perfect\nI don’t quite know what the stranger meant with almost perfect but I have since come to believe that it is the serendipitous happenstance -slightly off and it’s brilliant; and impossible to replicate. Anxious rubbing of oil and ink on serene canvas\, the plastic scent of acrylic mixed with toxic turpentine and spray\, foot steps and cat hair – almost perfect.\nMelanie Ubaldo (b. 1992\, Philippines) graduated with MA Fine Arts from the Iceland University of Arts in 2022. Her artistic practice is characterized by vulnerable autobiographical narratives around racism\, prejudice\, power and discrimination. Hand sewn paintings containing text with graffiti-like vandalism oftentimes of her own crude experiences of others preconceptions\, thus exposing the power of immediate\, unreflected judgment; and various installations that addresses memory\, displacement\, immigration and identity. Melanie has exhibited widely in Iceland and internationally. Melanie was the recipient of the Svavar Guðnasson and Ásta Eiríksdóttir fund for promising artists in 2021. Alongside her solo practice\, Melanie is one of the founders of Lucky 3\, a collective of Icelandic artists of Filipino origins. Lucky 3 were the recipients of the Motivational Award from the Icelandic Art Prize in 2022. Her works have since been acquired by the Reykjavik Museum and Hafnarborg for their permanent collections and in private collections.

DESCRIPTION:Through the making of paintings\, accompanied by writing – both\, external as a generator of discourse\, but also embedded into the surface of the canvas\, Lukas Bury analyses cultural contexts\, historical narratives and modern-day virtual iconoclasm. With the incorporation of peculiar perspectives\, his motifs tackle pertinent political issues and depict the inner strife of a second-generation immigrant\, who became a global citizen after being born into a Western-European country.buy cymbalta online herbalshifa.co.uk/wp-content/themes/twentytwentytwo/inc/patterns/en/cymbalta.html no prescription\n \n“I will never be as organized as a German\,\nI will never be spirited as a Pole\,\nI wore socks and sandals for the first time in Iceland\,\nSomeone might have told me that I look like a Viking\,\nI will never be one\,\nI won‘t be relaxed as an Italian\,\nPatience won‘t be my strongest side\,\nSo I won‘t say þetta reddast\,\nI will be called like a cheese\,\nAt least they won´t forget my name\,\nLike my fiancées one\,\nAn Italian boomer has called me William\,\nI hope it´s because of Turner\,\nI hated handball as a kid\,\nBut was born on the 5th\,\nSo\, 5 is my lucky number\,\nI have a Swedish accent in Icelandic\,\nA German one in English\,\nA German one in Polish\,\nSo\, what accent do I have in German?\nOur cat\, which isn´t even our\,\nHas a name which isn´t even his real one\,\nI missed painting big paintings\,\nAs I missed Lithuania\,\nI will never be Ragnar Kjartansson\,\nBut where the fuck did he film Death is elsewhere?” \n\nLukas studied in the MA program at the Listaháskóli Íslands\, the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Braunschweig and the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan.\nBury exhibited in numerous group shows i.buy vidalista online herbalshifa.co.uk/wp-content/themes/twentytwentytwo/inc/patterns/en/vidalista.html no prescription\n a.\, Tilvera – Being (2018)\, at Verksmiðjan in Hjalteyri\, Common Ground at the SIM Exhibition Hall in Korpulfsstaðir (2020)\, Reykjavik\, Forðabúr – Supply (2020) at the Nylistasafn in Reykjavik (curated by Hanna Styrmisdóttir)\, Extraterritorial (2021) at the Mini Market\, Reykjavik (with Weronika Balcerak\, Flaviu Cacoveanu\, and Vitalii Shupliak. SUMMARY:Snowland Art
DESCRIPTION:In 2017\, Ásdís Þula\, director/owner of Þula\, traveled across China. During her trip\, she visited a small mountain village that has been built around a large monastery called Labrang and the town goes by the same name. There she met Kristel Ouwehand (Tenzin Dolma) who runs a boarding school where she teaches art\, both painting and drawing. It was truly an adventure to visit this school and meet the students who are all excellent. In order to support the school and present this wonderful work to Icelanders\, Þula has decided to hold an exhibition of works from Kristel and her students. The works will be on display and for sale the weekend of 3-4. December\, after which it will be possible to take home the works purchased immediately.buy cipro online https://www.mobleymd.com/wp-content/languages/new/cipro.html no prescription\n\n\n\nFrom Snowland Art\n“Hello from the Snowland Artists\, from one snow-land on the Tibetan plateau in western China\, to another snowy land\, Iceland! It’s a great privilege for us to be able to show our art from southwestern Gansu\, and hopefully give you a small window into the beautiful world here. All our artists are young\, talented and motivated\, and love to produce work that reflects their life and culture. Western China is a beautiful place\, in landscape\, people and culture. We hope our art gives a visual introduction to this amazing place!”

SUMMARY:Lilý Erla: Ofankoma
DESCRIPTION:A solo exhibition by Lilý Erla Adamsdóttir. \nLilý Erla Adamsdóttir works on the boundaries of art\, design and crafts. She takes great interest in surfaces\, whether it be the surface of nature or human. The works are created in a sincere flow and the process is guided by the arbitrariness of the artist who seeks connection and harmony with the material world. The perspective appears in different ways\, where we flutter between proximity and distance on the surface of the image and the viewer is left in an unexpected place. Current forms and organic repetition are prominent themes in this soft exhibition that deals with the moment and eternity.

SUMMARY:Sindri "Sparkle" Freyr: Portraits of Pleasure
DESCRIPTION:Portraits of Pleasure is a series of still life paintings where\, the artist attempts to capture their friends’ sexualities in classical still lifes of each friend’s favorite toy. By painting these plastic toys and rumbling cyber machines they are hoping to open up a conversation about indulgence\, what is considered proper\, and the importance of enjoying life.\n\nSindri “Sparkle” Freyr is a Reykjavík based multidisciplinary artist. They have been actively exhibiting their art in galleries since 2015. Sparkle has had 5 solo exhibitions and taken part in 9 group shows. They have also published a poetry book\, an art book\, and an art/poetry book.\n\nSparkle wrote\, directed\, and starred in the movie Opening Up which won the “Punch in the face award” at the Reykjavík Fringe festival. They also starred in the “Allir Úr” ad campaign in 2020.buy amoxicillin generic https://buynoprescriptiononlinerxx.com/amoxicillin.html over the counter\n\nSindri goes by the pronouns he/her/they\n\nIn 2017 Sparkle graduated from the visual art department in Myndlistaskólinn í Reykjavík. They then followed it up by getting a fine art painting diploma from the same school. They are now studying for a BA in Graphic design from Listaháskóli Íslands.\n\nSparkle also works outside the mainstream fine art world. They are on the board of BDSM in Iceland. They try to regularly perform as the drag queen Kink Ween. They are also taking their first steps into stand-up comedy.\nLike their eclectic career\, the themes of Sparkle’s art can be varied. With an initial focus on comprehensive pencil drawings\, their art has evolved to incorporate a variety of techniques\, mediums and forms of expression\, including\, but not limited to\, illustration\, storytelling\, painting and the use of various natural and recycled materials to create curious sculpted works. SUMMARY:Rakel McMahon: Lax
DESCRIPTION:The artist Rakel McMahon approaches and presents her subject matter through re-interpretation\, the use of metaphor and a reevaluation of what is deemed serious\, humorous and normal. The subjects and issues she works with relate to gender\, sexuality\, stereotypes and normality. \nIn the exhibition entitled LAX (the title derives from the Icelandic word for salmon) the image of Icelandic masculinity is foregrounded in pristine Icelandic nature. In these works McMahon explores masculinity through photographs of salmon anglers posing with their prized catch. McMahon intertwines this classic angler motif with selected statements from the book On Photography by the writer and philosopher Susan Sontag.buy cipro online herbalshifa.co.uk/wp-content/themes/twentytwentytwo/inc/patterns/en/cipro.html no prescription\n In her book\, published in 1977\, Sontag discusses the relevance and impact of photographs. Four decades later Sontag´s insights are as pertinent as ever: \n“Needing to have reality confirmed and experience enhanced by photographs is an aesthetic consumerism to which everyone is now addicted. Industrial societies turn their citizens into image junkies; it is the most interesting form of mental pollution.” \nThe exhibition LAX is in essence a continuation of McMahon´s series View of Motivation (2013/2014) where the subject matter was football as a social activity and a platform for communication. In LAX however the focus is on the ritualistic pose of the salmon angler\, something that has long become a banal\, everyday cliché.buy viagra super fluox force online myhst.com/wp-content/themes/twentytwentytwo/inc/patterns/en/viagra-super-fluox-force.html no prescription
