SUMMARY:Where is my home / Kde je muj domov
DESCRIPTION:Open every day until May 13th hr. 2-8pm\nDeiglan\, Kaupvangsstræti 23\, Akureyri\n\nOpening of exhibition will begin by concert of musician Jitka Hermankova.\n\n“Home isn’t where you’re from\, it’s where you find light when all grows dark.”\nBeginning of the czech national anthem is the question where is my home. So I tried to find people who left their country to find their new home here in Iceland. Most of the artist living here find their endless inspiration in the icelandic landscape and unique nature\, so different to the middle european country.\nJana Jano\nIvana Golanova\nKaterina Stepankova\nAnna Tesarova\nTereza Sulakova (ReZ!)\nMarie Bradavkova\nTereza Kocianova\nCurator is Tereza Kocianova

SUMMARY:Melanie Clemmons: Boreal Crush Pack
DESCRIPTION:Boreal Crush Pack \nOpening on Sat feb 26th hr. 2 – 5pm \nAlso open on Sun feb 27th hr. 2 – 5pm \nGil Artist in Residence Melanie Clemmons exhibits the products of her stay. \nDigital asset packs\, a collection of digital files often organized around a theme\, have spiked in popularity for use in video games like Fortnite and Roblox\, as well as in social media and the (possibly) looming Metaverse. These ‘bundles’ or ‘packs’ contain 3D models\, images\, sounds and animations\, among other file types. While in residency at the Gil society\, Melanie Clemmons created an asset pack using photogrammetry and 3d scanning processes. Akureyri’s flora and landscapes serve as the raw material for Clemmons’ assets\, however the resulting pieces are warped\, contorted\, crushed\, and whorled\, existing more as symbols of unreality than recognizable objects. \nIn the exhibition Boreal Crush Pack\, viewers are invited to explore worlds Clemmons has created using her distorted asset pack. Works on display include interactive 3D animations\, video art\, and virtual and augmented reality. \nAll ages gleefully welcome. \nMelanie Clemmons (she/they) is a new media artist interested in reimagining technology toward a more careful and sublime future. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums internationally\, and consists of video\, net art\, installation\, 3D printed sculpture and XR experiences. Clemmons toured with Pussy Riot performing visuals during their first North American tour\, and has collaborated on several of their music videos.buy super avana online healthcoachmichelle.com/wp-content/themes/twentytwentyone/inc/en/super-avana.html no prescription\n She has also collaborated with Zak Loyd since 2009\, performing live visuals\, and composing immersive video\, laser\, and XR installations.buy cymbalta online healthcoachmichelle.com/wp-content/themes/twentytwentyone/inc/en/cymbalta.html no prescription\n She is an assistant professor of digital/hybrid media at SMU in Dallas\, TX.

SUMMARY:Slow Quick Quick Slow
DESCRIPTION:Sept 25th – sept 26th hr. 14 – 17 \nEbba Stålhandske\, fibre artist\nGudrun Westerlund\, painter\nfrom Uppsala\, Sweden \nThey work with different materials. Ebba is a fibre artist. Gudrun is a painter. This means\nalso that there is a difference in their way of working\, to be exact\, a difference in the time it\ntakes. Hence the title SLOW QUICK QUICK SLOW. \nEbba works mostly with embroidery\, which often means a lot of small stitches.\nShe works with different techniques such as dying materials in different ways\, appliqué\nand finally embroidery. The stitches make the final image.\nGudrun\, here in Akureyri\, has been working with ink on mulberry paper\, in big sweeps\nover the paper and also with watercolours.\nOtherwise she works with egg and oil tempera on canvas which is not so quick.\nBeing here together has given them opportunity to try some joint work.\nThey have used pieces of tarlatan\, a semitransparent and stiff fabric. They started on one\nlittle square each\, Ebba with embroidery and Gudrun with painting. Then they switched\nand continued on the other person’s work. No theme\, just improvising. Just a lot of fun.\nBut it’s not only a game. It is also an exciting and challenging experience. \nYou have to adjust to somebody else’s idea\, and continue and complete a picture that is already half\nfinished. We also have become more familiar with the two techniques\, their different potentials and\nhow they can connect to each other to make an art work for which both are responsible.
