Always only 5 minutes until. \nI move away in abundance. Instead of being an efficient vessel for construction\,  who receives and delivers right away\, I undergo the current. A rushing stream of ideas\, a plethora of abundance all that is and can be imagined\, becoming a kind of apathy. Numbness. Not indifferent\, on the contrary. Full of consciousness and intention\, but numb. Like in the movies. \nToday’s race manifests in the symbol of infinity\, gets tighter with every step and is measured in time and space. \nGunnar Jónsson (b. 1988) was born in Reykjavík\, Iceland\, but moved to his hometown Ísafjörður shortly after. Listin er mjög heppileg aðferð til að ferðast í tíma og rúmi. Flestar leiðir til nýrra tíma liggja gegnum listaverk.  \nVið skynjum nýja myndlist\, en hún opnar okkur nýjan heim sem er ekki draumur heldur veruleiki. Við látum gamla heiminn lönd og leið\, höldum þó eftir nokkrum pinklum\, eilitlum menningarlegum farangri eða lögvernduðum listaverkum. Af þeim getum við séð hvar við vorum stödd. \nTíminn eyðir öllu. Eftilvill eiga menjar mannsandans\, sönnunargögn sannleikans\, listaverkin\, sér þó mestar lífslíkur. \nSigurður Guðmundsson\nnóvember 1969\nFyrirlestur fluttur í Norræna húsinu\, Reykjavík \nListamenn Nýlistasafnið: \nBjörk Guðnadóttir (f. 1969) leitar víða fanga í listsköpun sinni og til þess notar hún ýmiskonar efnivið eins og léreft\, ullargarn\, plast\, gifs og vax. Björk hefur haldið einkasýningar og verið valin til þess að taka þátt í mörgum samsýningum\, bæði hér á landi og erlendis. Hún hefur hlotið fjölmarga styrki og verk eftir hana eru í eigu listasafna og safnara. Björk er meðlimur í Myndhöggvarafélaginu í Reykjavík og Nýlistasafninu. \nBorgar Magnason er kontrabassaleikari og tónskáld\, hann gerir gjarnan hljóðheim við hið sjónræna\, þ.m.t. myndlistarverk; er nátengdur sjónrænni túlkun og hefur löngum unnið úr myndlist í verkum sínum. \nGuðlaug Mía Eyþórsdóttir (f.1988) útskrifaðist með BA gráðu frá Listaháskóla Íslands árið 2012 og stundaði síðar meistarnám í myndlist við Koninklijke Academie í Gent\, þaðan sem hún útskrifaðist árið 2018. Í myndlist sinni skoðar Guðlaug skúlptúríska þætti í manngerðu umhverfi okkar\, gaumgæfir þau form\, áferðir og gjörðir sem nærumhverfi okkar samanstanda af og kannar hvort efnisgera megi daglegar athafnir. \nGunnhildur Hauksdottir (f. 1972) hlaut MFA frá Sandberg Institute í Amsterdam\, Hollandi árið 2006 og BFA Listaháskóla Íslands árið 2002. Verk hennar er að finna í safneignum Listasafns Íslands og Nýlistasafninu í Reykjavík. Í safneign Uppsala Konstmuseum og Goethe Institute í Kaupmannahöfn og Hess Gallery\, safneign Háskólans í Lethbridge í Kanada. Verk hennar hafa verið flutt og tekin til sýninga víða á ferli hennar. Hún tók m.a. þátt í  Silver Lining\, Collateral Event á 56. Feneyjatvíæringnum árið 2015. Hún hefur sýnt í Listasafni Íslands\, Listasafni Reykjavíkur\, Galleria Municipal do Porto í Portúgal\, í Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein\, Uppsala Konstmuseum og  í 21 Haus hjá Belvedere Museum í Vín. Gunnhildur hefur sterk tengsl við Seyðisfjörð og hefur búið þar af og til síðan hún hóf feril sinn. Hún býr og starfar við myndlist í Reykjavík og Berlín.

The title seeks inspiration in the lecture of artist Sigurður Guðmundsson\, TIME\, from 1969\, and can be found in the festival’s catalogue: \nThe phenomenon of time is important in all art. Art is a very suitable means of travelling in time and space. The first paths to a new time usually run through works of art. \nWe perceive new art and in this way see a new world which is not a dream but reality. We forsake the old world\, apart from a few things which are called cultural baggage or preserved works of art. From these we can always see where we have been. \nTime destroys all things\, but what perhaps stays the longest are the traces of the human spirit\, the evidence of truth: art. \nSigurdur Gudmundsson\nNovember 1969\nLecture Norræna Húsið\, Reykjavik \nArtists at The Living Art Museum: \nBjörk Guðnadóttir (b. 1969) seeks inspiration for her work in many places and uses various materials\, such as linen\, wool yarn\, plastic\, plaster and wax. She has held solo exhibitions and been selected for numerous group exhibitions\, both in Iceland and abroad. She has received many grants and her works can be found in the collections of art museums and collectors. Björk is a member of the Icelandic Sculptors’ Society and the Living Art Museum. \nGuðlaug Mía Eyþórsdóttir (b.1988) completed a BA degree from the Fine Art Department of Iceland University of the Arts in 2012 and later studied at the MA program in Fine Art at the Koninklijke Academie in Gent\, Belgium\, from which she graduated in 2018. Guðlaug has initiated a broad range of projects within the arts and has worn many hats as a publisher\, curator and researcher. Between 2012-19 she initiated\, along with fellow artists\, the exhibition venues Kunschlager in Reykjavík and ABD Klubhuis in Antwerp\, Belgium.  In her practise Guðlaug concerns herself with the sculptural aspects of our surroundings\, observes the forms\, textures and acts they consist of and explores whether daily activities can be materialised. \nGunnhildur Hauksdottir received her MFA from the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam\, Netherlands in 2006 and her BFA from the Iceland University of the Arts in 2002. Her works and performances have been exhibited and performed widely throughout her career\, she took part in the Silver Lining\, Collateral Event at the 56th International Art Exhibition at the Biennale di Venezia in 2015. Among the institutions that have displayed her works are the Galeria Municipal do Porto\, the National Gallery of Iceland\, the Reykjavik Art Museum\, the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein\, the Uppsala Art Museum and the 21 Haus at the Belvedere Museum in Vienna. Gunnhildur has strong ties to Seydisfjordur and has lived there on and off since the start of her career. She is currently based in Reykjavik and Berlin. \nPétur Magnússon (b. 1958) was born in Reykjavík. After high school\, he attended the Icelandic School of Arts and Crafts (forerunner of the Iceland University of the Arts)\, then continued his studies at Accademia delle belle Arti in Bologna\, Italy\, and finally at Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunste in Amsterdam\, Netherlands. After graduation in 1986\, he lived in Amsterdam until 2003 when he returned to Iceland. In the Netherlands\, he was one of the founders of the Boekie Woekie art bookshop\, which is also a gallery and a publisher. He worked at the company for some years\, and Boekie Woekie presented his art at the Art Frankfurt fair in Germany in 1996. Pétur studied painting in Italy and printmaking in the Netherlands\, and this is evident in his older works. Over time he has moved into photography and sculpture\, often bas-reliefs\, and a combination of steelwork and photography is a common method. His art seeks to challenge the senses while offering new potential for perception of the environment. As a rule\, his works are site-specific. Material and perspective often play a major part in distorting the environment in a philosophical and humorous manner.

Að aftengja mynd og merkingu\, og skapa nýja\, má líta á sem heildarhvata verka hans. \nÁsta Fanney Sigurðardóttir (f. 1987) er listakona og skáld. Hún vinnur meðal annars með tóna\, hljóð og orð í verkum sínum\, ásamt gjörningum. Verk hennar hverfast oft um hið óvænta og fáránlega þar sem mörk ólíkra miðla mást út. Árið 2018 sýndi hún gjörningaverkið Lunar-10.13 & Gáta Nórensu á Listahátíð í Reykjavík\, þar sem ljóð\, tónlist\, innsetningar og gjörningar runnu saman í eitt. Meðal verka hennar er þorskaópera\, raulkórverk\, hljóðaljóðakórverk og sérhljóðatónverk. Nýjasta bók hennar nefnist Gluggi – draumskrá sem er skrásetning á draumum. Ásta hefur flutt tónverk sín\, ljóð og gjörninga á ýmsum hátíðum og sýningum bæði hérlendis og erlendis. Hún var handhafi Ljóðstafs Jóns úr Vör árið 2017 og var tilnefnd til Bernard Heidsieck-verðlaunanna í Pompidou árið 2021. \nTónsmíðar Bergrúnar Snæbjörnsdóttur (f. 1987) hafa verið fluttar í formi kammer- og hljóðverka víðsvegar um Evrópu\, Bandaríkin  Ástralíu og í Asíu af hópum eins og Oslo Philharmonic (NO)\, International Contemporary Ensemble ICE (US)\, Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands\, Nordic Affect (IS)\, Avanti! Kammersveit (FI) og fleirum. Hún er handhafi Hildegard verðlauna The National Sawdust árið 2019. Þá hafa verk hennar verið valin til flutnings á virtum tónlistarhátíðum eins og Mostly Mozart Festival í Lincoln Center (New York)\, ISCM World Music Days (Peking)\, Sound of Stockholm\, Ultima Festival (Oslo)\, Nordic Music Days (London\, Bodø\, Reykjavík)\, Only Connect (Oslo)\, SPOR (Árósir)\, Tectonics Music Festival (Glasgow/Reykjavík)\, Prototype (New York)\, Classical NEXT (Rotterdam) og KLANG (Kaupmannahöfn) auk annarra viðburða. \nNýlókórinn var stofnaður 2003 og fæst við flutning hljóðljóða. Kórinn kemur fram tvisvar til þrisvar á ári og hefur flutt margvísleg verk eftir innlenda og erlenda höfunda eins og Magnús Pálsson\, Philip Corner\, Eric Andersen\, Hörð Bragason\, Kristin G. These concepts often refer to cultural development\, creation of meaning\, as well as perceptual concepts of time\, space and materiality. With this in mind\, his work has continuity in concept rather than appearance. The disconnection of metaphoric meaning and the creation of reason through dynamic conjunction rather than repetitive connections can be seen as an overall motive in artistic practice. \nÁsta Fanney Sigurðardóttir (b. 1987) is an artist and poet. Among other things\, she works with notes\, sounds and words in her works\, as well as performances. Her work often revolves around the unexpected and ridiculous\, erasing the borders between different media. In 2018\, she displayed her performance Lunar-10.13 & Gáta Nórensu at the Reykjavík Arts Festival\, where poetry\, music\, installations and performances merged into one. Her works include a cod opera\, humming choir piece\, sound poetry choir piece and a vowel composition. Her latest book is called Gluggi – draumskrá (Window – Dream Register) and contains a list of dreams. Ásta has performed her compositions\, poetry and performances at various festivals and exhibitions in Iceland and abroad. She received the Kópavogur poetry prize in 2017 and was nominated for Bernard Heidsieck literary prize\, Pompidou in 2021. \nHailing from the peripheries of Iceland\, Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir (b. 1987) follows inner logics when approaching composition\, often integrating sound and other phenomena into an indivisible whole. Her “elemental style” (Steve Smith\, The New Yorker) has been commissioned and performed widely and by renowned groups such as the Oslo Philharmonic (NO)\, Iceland Symphony Orchestra (IS)\, International Contemporary Ensemble ICE (US)\, Decibel (AUS)\, Avanti! Chamber Orchestra (FI) and Nordic Affect (IS)\, while featured in major festivals and events such as Tectonics (Glasgow\, Reykjavík\, Athens\, Oslo)\, Nordic Music Days (London\, Bodø\, Reykjavík)\, Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart (New York)\, Only Connect (Oslo)\, Classical:NEXT (Rotterdam)\, SPOR (Aarhus)\, Cycle (Kópavogur)\, Ultima (Oslo)\, Dark Music Days (Reykjavík)\, Sigur Rós’s Norður og Niður (Reykjavík)\, KLANG (Copenhagen)\, ISCM’s World New Music Days (Beijing)\, Sound of Stockholm\, Prototype (New York) and more. Bergrún holds a master’s degree in composition from Mills College where she studied with the likes of Pauline Oliveros\, Fred Frith\, Zeena Parkins\, and Roscoe Mitchell. \nNýlókórinn – The Icelandic Sound Poetry Choir var established 2003 to perform sound poetries. The choir performs twice to three times a year and has performed diverse works by Icelandic and foreign artist\, like Magnús Pálsson\, Philip Corner\, Eric Andersen\, Hörð Bragason\, Kristin G. Harðarson\, Rúrí\, Hörpu Björnsdóttur\, Ástu Ólafsdóttur\, Eiríksínu Ásgrímsdóttur\, Áka Ásgeirsson\, Magneu Ásmundsdóttur\, Þorkel Atlason\, Rod Summers\, Níels Hafstein\, Guðmund Haraldsson and Magnús Jensson.

SUMMARY:Carl Boutard & Ásmundur Sveinsson: Gróður jarðar
DESCRIPTION:Höggmyndalist Carls Boutard hefur þróast út frá staðfastri ástríðu listamannsins fyrir umhverfinu\, einkum undir beru lofti. Verk hans eru gjarnan unnin í samhengi við almannarými og þau endurspegla tengsl á milli manns\, náttúru og menningar. Carl lýsir sér sem „gamaldags myndhöggvara“ og vísar þá til áherslu sinnar á efni og form og þá virkni verkanna að þau taki breytingum eftir því frá hvaða sjónarhorni horft er á þau. Þar má gjarnan sjá tilraunir með tómarúm eða op inni í mótaðri umgjörð. Verkin kunna að virðast óhlutbundin en þau eru iðulega dregin af náttúrulegum formum sem finna má agnarsmá í jurtaríkinu eða gríðarstór í himingeiminum. \nFjölmargt í listsköpun Carls Boutard á sér samsvörun í ævistarfi Ásmundar Sveinssonar. \nÞað er spennandi að sjá verk þessara myndhöggvara ólíkra tíma kallast á. Carl sýnir ný verk eftir sjálfan sig og velur verk Ásmundar til samtals við þau. Sýningin er hluti af sýningartvennu í Ásmundarsafni árið 2021 en sýning Sirru Sigrúnar Sigurðardóttur verður opnuð snemma árs og sýning Carls að hausti. Með þessum sýningum opnar Ásmundarsafn eftir mestu endurbætur frá því það var opnað almenningi árið 1986. Gestir öðlast nýja sýn á arfleifð hins gamalkunna og ástsæla listamanns í gegnum linsu tveggja samtímalistamanna og í hinu fallega umhverfi sem Ásmundarsafn og garðurinn í kring móta. \nCarl Boutard er fæddur 1975 í Kiruna\, Svíþjóð og stundaði nám við Malmö Art Academy og Listaháskóla Íslands í Reykjavík. Auk þess hefur hann lært arkitektúr við Konunglegu tækniháskólann í Stokkhólmi. Verk Boutards hafa verið sýnd í Listasafni Malmö\, Lunds Konsthall\, Sven-Harrys konstmuseum\, Artipelag\, Bonniers Konsthall og Centre Culturel Suédois í París. Boutard hlaut ISCP-styrkinn í New York árið 2015 og meðal verka hans í almannarými eru skúlptúrar í Stokkhólmi\, Uppsölum\, Karlstad\, Lundi í Svíþjóð sem og í Heidenheim\, Þýskalandi. SUMMARY:Carl Boutard & Ásmundur Sveinsson: Budding Earth
DESCRIPTION:Carl Boutard’s sculptural practice has been shaped by his constant longing for the outdoors. Often situated or made in public space\, it observes and reflects on the relationship between human beings\, nature and culture. Carl describes himself as an “old-fashioned sculptor” and refers to his emphasis on material and form\, and the function of the works to change depending on the point of view from which they are viewed. There you can often see experiements with emptiness or an opening inside a molded frame. The works may appear abstract\, but are often drawn from natural forms that can be found in the tiny plant kingdom or in the vast universe. \nMuch of Carl Boutard’s art practice is paralleled in the lifework of Ásmundur Sveinsson. It is exciting to see the work of these sculptors from different times call upon one another. Carl exhibits new work after himself and selects work by Ásmundar in conversation with them. The exhibition is part of a two-exhibition series in Reykjavík Art Museum – Ásmundarsafn during 2021\, including an exhibition of work by Sirra Sigrún Sigurðardóttir to open early in the year and Carl’s exhibition will follow in the fall. With these exhibitions\, Ásmundarsafn will re-open following the largest renovation since its opening to the public in 1986. Visitors will gain new perspective on the heritage of the well-known and cared for artist through the lens of two contemporary artists\, and within the beautiful environment of Ásmundarsafn and the surrounding garden. \nCarl Boutard\, born 1975 in Kiruna\, has studied at Malmö Art Academy and Iceland University of the Arts\, Reykjavik. In addition\, he has studied architecture at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Boutard’s work has been shown at Malmö Art Museum\, Lunds Konsthall\, Sven-Harrys konstmuseum\, Artipelag\, Bonniers Konsthall and Centre Culturel Suédois in Paris. Boutard was awarded the ISCP-scholarship in New York in 2015 and his public commissions include sites in Stockholm\, Uppsala\, Karlstad\, Lund and Heidenheim\, Germany. He is represented in the collections at Malmö Art Museum\, Public Art Agency Sweden and Skissernas Museum – Museum of Artistic Process and Public Art in Lund. Hvaðan horfir listamaðurinn á verkin sín og hvernig horfir áhorfandinn á þau? Horfum við ofan frá\, með yfirsýn eða sjáum við aðeins brot af heildarmyndinni. Er horft innávið eða út um augun og frá okkur. Uppundir\, í gegnum\, afturábak í tíma eða áfram inn í eilífðina? \nÍ verkum sínum vinnur Áslaug með efnivið sem á sér sterkar rætur í náttúru og í byggingariðnaði og stuðlar jafnframt að hugrenningartengslum við umhverfi okkar\, mótun þess og skipulag. Í stöðugri leit að jafnvægi teflir Áslaug fram andstæðum og stillir þeim upp sem hliðstæðum hvað varðar efnivið\, aðferðir og efnistök. Fágun og fínleiki þess grófa og hráa er dregið fram og öfugt. \nSteingrímur Gauti nálgast málverkið af alúð og léttleika\, með því að aðskilja sjálfið og fyrirframgefnar hugmyndir frá daglegu sköpunarferli sínu. Verk hans leika með grunnspurningar um myndlist og fagurfræði\, eru í senn kraftmikil og lítillát en fjalla í raun ekki um annað en sig sjálf og sjónræn áhrif þeirra á áhorfandann. Ónákvæmni\, endurtekning og höfnun gagnrýnnar hugsunar einkenna vinnubrögð hans og útkoman ber þess jafnan merki\, þar sem verkin dansa á línu þess ljóðræna og barnslega. \nÁslaug Íris Katrín Friðjónsdóttir (f. 1981) lauk B.A. námi í myndlist frá Listaháskóla Íslands árið 2006 og MFA frá School of Visual Arts í New York árið 2009. Áslaug bjó um tíma í Bandaríkjunum en býr nú og starfar í Reykjavík. Hún hefur tekið þátt í samsýningum í söfnum\, galleríum og öðrum sýningarrýmum í Evrópu\, Bandaríkjunum og á Íslandi. Áslaug hélt sína fyrstu einkasýningu árið 2015 í Hverfisgalleríi en nýlegar sýningar hafa verið sýningin STEIN SKRIFT í Norr11\, Stellingar I Línulegar frásagnir í Berg Contemporary og einkasýningin Umskráning\, sem nú stendur yfir á jarðhæð Ásmundarsalar og er hluti sýningarraðarinnar Í kring hjá Reykjavík Roasters. \nSteingrímur Gauti Ingólfsson (f. 1986) býr og starfar í Reykjavík. Hann lauk B.A. námi í myndlist frá Listaháskóla Íslands árið 2015 og hefur verið virkur í sýningarhaldi síðastliðin ár. Hann hefur tekið þátt í samsýningum bæði hér á landi og erlendis og haldið allnokkrar einkasýningar. Nýlegar sýningar eru m.a. Soft Approach í Galerie Marguo í París\, Life in a Day í Diller Daniels í Zurich og Allt á sama tíma í Hafnarborg. DESCRIPTION:Sýningin samanstendur af innsetningu nýrra skúlptúra sem og tveimur kvöldverðarboðum sem unnin eru í samstarfi við Kjartan Óla Guðmundsson\, veitingamann og vöruhönnuð og Jóhönnu Rakel Jónasdóttur\, myndlistar- og tónlistarkonu. \nInni á sýningunni er búið að slá upp langborði þar sem gestum verður boðið að virkja skynfærin í gegnum mat & drykk. Sérútbúinn margrétta matseðill hefur verið gerður í nánum tengslum við verkin á sýningunni. Þá hafa verkin einnig tekið á sig mynd út frá seðlinum og afraksturinn er alltumlykjandi ferðalag með tilvísanir í hina fjölbreyttu flóru og fánu íslenskrar náttúru. \nEr matur list? Getur matur verið myndlist? Matur er að minnsta kosti upplifun sem virkjar skilningarvitin og getur verið hugvekjandi. En lengi hefur matargerð verið föst í þeim viðjum að vera gleðjandi og hugguleg upplifun. Líkt og ef einu leiksýningarnar væru farsar eða að rómantískar gamanmyndir væru eina kvikmyndaformið. Myndlist og önnur listform hafa hinsvegar löngu brotið niður þessa múra. Myndlist hefur leyfi til að vera allskonar; ljót\, erfið og krefjandi. Undanfarna áratugi hefur matreiðsla hægt og bítandi verið að brjóta niður þessa múra og veitingastaðir líkt og El Bulli\, Noma og Alchemist svo örfá dæmi séu nefnd bjóða upp á upplifun með fastmótuðum margrétta matseðlum og færa upplifunina þar með nær leikhúsi en veitingastaðir þar sem þú getur valið þér rétti af matseðli. Það er skemmtilegt að fá tækifæri til að brjóta niður þessa múra og framreiða matarupplifun þar sem unnið er í samstarfi við myndlistarmann. DESCRIPTION:Kominn tími til er yfirskrift tíundu Sequences hátíðarinnar sem haldin verður dagana 15.-24. október næstkomandi. Vísar yfirskrift hátíðarinnar í það samfélagsrými augnabliksins sem hátíðin skapar sér hverju sinni. \nÁ hátíðinni má finna ólík samtöl listamanna\, ýmist við umhverfi sitt\, sögu eða við aðra listamenn. Samtöl eru í eðli sínu mörkuð af augnablikinu og samhengi þeirra. Meðvitað og ómeðvitað fléttast inn í samtölin sá tíðarandi og ríkjandi hugmyndir í samfélaginu hverju sinni. Þar sem hugmyndir innan samfélaga eru kvikar og breytingum háðar\, líkt og samfélögin sjálf\, gefst kostur á að lesa í flæði tímans og þróun hinna ýmsu samfélagslegu hugmynda. Að hreyfa við viðteknum hugmyndum samfélagsins gerir okkur kleift að hreyfa við tímanum. \nHátíðin í ár skartar fjölbreyttum hópi listamanna sem eiga það sameiginlegt að vera gjafmildir á tíma sinn\, hugmyndir og sköpunarkraft. SUMMARY:SEQUENCES X: Time Has Come
DESCRIPTION:Time Has Come is the title for the tenth Sequences art biennale\, held between 15-24 October 2021. The title is a reference to the ephemeral social space which the festival makes for itself each time. \nThis year’s festival includes diverse artists’ dialogue\, with their environment\, history or other artists. Dialogue is by nature defined by the moment and context. It consciously and subconsciously includes the zeitgeist and prevailing ideas of the society at any given time. Where ideas within societies are dynamic and subject to change\, like societies themselves\, we get an opportunity to read the flow of time and the development of various social ideas. By stirring the accepted conventions in a society\, we can stir up the time. \nThis year\, the festival boasts a diverse group of artists who are all generous with their time\, ideas and creative energy. They are able to drive projects and create a platform for dialogue and participation. This often resolves in artwork that include direct communication between the artist and a certain space or environment\, and the connection to the audience created by the work. The dialogue between artist and receiver can then become an artwork in itself\, it assumes a form that lives inscrutably in the mind of the receiver. The result is an artwork that communicates humane behaviour and ideas of the human condition and freedom. \n  \nThe honorary artist of Sequences X – Time Has Come is Elísabet Kristín Jökulsdóttir. Elísabet has the ability to weave threads between various forms of art and she uses her artistic voice to tell it like it is but also to remind us of the magic. \nElísabet’s possesses the language of the goddess and she appears to us in different images\, creating and destroying in turn\, she on the inside and the outside and dances on the line between. In her work\, Elísabet is analytical of her own self and the nation’s and she deals with the Utopian role of art as a shifting force in society. Her strength lies in the dynamic and diverse relationship she has with her viewers and listeners\, where she herself is like a public work of art\, constantly stirring the ideas of the society and thus stirring time and participating in the endless recreation of the world. \n“The genesis of various religions do not normally state that a world is being created for the first time. […] But while nothing else is stated\, we can imagine that the world is being recreated instead of created anew. SUMMARY:J Pasila: Ókunnugur
DESCRIPTION:Síðustu 18 mánuði hef ég varið tíma mínum í Zoom og FaceTime símtöl í leit að einhverskonar samveru – líkt og vinir mínir og kunningjar. Stundum hægði á sambandinu eða nettengingin hökti. Skjámyndin fraus og varð þokukennd\, eins og óljós vatnslitamynd. \nÉg fór að taka myndir af þessum augnablikum – tilgangslitlar tilraunir til að halda í tengingu sem var þá þegar næstum horfin\, varla til staðar lengur. Andlitsmyndirnar bera með sér súrrealískan og í senn kvíðavænlegan blæ. Í stað þess að hinar stafrænu “samkomur” með ástvinum færðu mér félagsskap og samkennd juku þær á vanlíðan mína og einsemd. \nLitirnir eru dempaðir; þokugráir og bleik- og blámóskulegir. Sums staðar birtast andlitin út úr dökkum bakgrunni. Ég prentaði upphaflega þessar myndir af vinum og fjölskyldufólki á þunnan ljósritunarpappír sem er jafn léttur og hverfull og innihald myndanna og fellur vel að dulúð þeirra. Stærðirnar eru 20×20 sm og 90×117 sm. Samhliða má sjá myndaröð sem sýnir pixluð rýmin sem stóðu auð þegar fólk stóð upp og færði sig út úr myndrammanum. Sófapúðar\, bókahillur og gluggatjöld birtast sem leiktjald á sviði sem bíður þess að einhver stígi á stokk. \nJ Pasila hefur sýnt verk sín bæði í Evrópu og Bandaríkjunum. Í New York hafa sýningar hennar meðal annars farið fram í Plane Space Gallery\, Momenta\, og The Carriage Trade Gallery. Í Evrópu hefur hún sett upp sýningar í Apollohuis í Eindhoven Hollandi\, Waterfront Gallery í Gent í Belgíu og á Siglufirði. Verk hennar voru valin af Robert Storr fyrir 44. National Chatauqa sýninguna á amerískri list. Þá hefur hún tekið þátt í sýningu “dust” ljósmyndasafnsins í Pompidou safninu í París frá október 2020 til mars 2021. Þá hefur J hlotið styrki og verðlaun frá Elizabeth Foundation\, Sambandi íslenskra myndlistarmanna og Mustarinda félaginu í Finnlandi – og tvisvar dvalið í McDowell Colony\, NH. \nJ Pasila útskrifaðist frá Ontario College of Art í Toronto. Hélt áfram námi í vídeolistadeild og arkitektúr við Listaháskólann í Dusseldorf. Á námsárum sínum í Þýskalandi stundaði hún rannsóknar- og þróunarvinnu með OMA\, Christopher Alexander og CRATerre fyrir skapandi heimildarmyndina A sense of place. DESCRIPTION:Over the last 18 months\, like everyone I know\, I have been spending hours on Zoom and FaceTime calls\, seeking some form of togetherness. Sometimes the internet connections would slow or stutter. The screen image would freeze and become hazy\, watercolour-like. I began taking screen grabs of these moments – futile attempts to hold onto a connection that was already almost lost\, barely there. The resulting portraits speak to both the surreal quality and the anxiety of the times. Rather than creating a sense of bonded-ness and fellowship\, I found these digital ‘gatherings’\, for months on end\, only added to my sense of dis-ease and isolation. \nThe colours are muted\, foggy. In some\, the faces emerge from a digital chiaroscuro. The pixelated empty spaces – couch cushions\, the ubiquitous bookshelf\, a curtained window – appear like stage sets\, waiting for a presence. \nI initially printed these on a thin bond paper that feels as light and ephemeral as the images themselves\, and match their furtive quality. Hann hefur verið að sýna verk sín í galleríum síðan 2015. Sindri hefur átt 5 einkasýningar og tekið þátt í 9 samsýningum. Hann hefur líka gefið út ljóðabók\, listabók og ljóða/listabók.\nSindri skrifaði\, leikstýrði og lék aðalhlutverkið í kvikmyndini Opening Up sem vann “Punch in the face” verðlaunin á Reykjavík Fringe Festival. Hann lék líka aðalhlutverkið í “Allir úr” auglýsingarherferð Nova.\nSindri kýs öll persónufornöfn\, hann/hún/hán.\n\nÁrið 2017 útskrifaðist Sindri af sjónlistabraut í Myndlistaskólanum í Reykjavík. SUMMARY:Sindri "Sparkle" Freyr: Portraits of Pleasure
DESCRIPTION:Portraits of Pleasure is a series of still life paintings where\, the artist attempts to capture their friends’ sexualities in classical still lifes of each friend’s favorite toy. By painting these plastic toys and rumbling cyber machines they are hoping to open up a conversation about indulgence\, what is considered proper\, and the importance of enjoying life.\n\nSindri “Sparkle” Freyr is a Reykjavík based multidisciplinary artist. They have been actively exhibiting their art in galleries since 2015. Sparkle has had 5 solo exhibitions and taken part in 9 group shows. They have also published a poetry book\, an art book\, and an art/poetry book.\n\nSparkle wrote\, directed\, and starred in the movie Opening Up which won the “Punch in the face award” at the Reykjavík Fringe festival. DESCRIPTION:Listafólkið Hákon Bragason og Katerina Blahutova taka höndum saman í þessari nýju innsetningu og bjóða áhorfendum að endurskoða skilning sinn á stafrænu hliðarsjálfi nútímamannsins. Sjónvarpsskjáir sem yfirlýsa sýningarrýmið taka á móti áhorfendum. Með því að horfa í gegnum pólíserandi filmu sjá áhorfendur hvernig birtan umbreytist og stafrænn heimur tekur á sig mynd. Þegar áhorfendur ferðast gegnum rýmið birtast nýir heimar til þess eins að hverfa jafn skjótt aftur inn í hvíta birtuna. Á þessu sífellda ferðalagi á milli veruleika hafa áhorfendur þó einn fastan punkt: Neðri búkur manneskju stendur grafkyrr í miðju rými; hinn helmingurinn fastur í stafrænum heimi. \nTil að skoða áhrif og afleiðingar stafræna sjálfsins buðu sýningarstjórarnir Dorothea Olesen Halldórsdóttir og Þorsteinn Eyfjörð listafólkinu að skapa innsetningu sem tjáir þetta félagslega fyrirbæri. Í ferlinu rannsökuðu þau spurningar á borð við: Vitum við hvaða áhrif hið síbreytilega\, leikstýrða stafræna sjálf hefur á sjálfsmynd lifandi manneskju í raunheimum? Þurfum við stöðuga áminningu úr hliðarveruleikanum til að ná tengingu við sjálfið? Er sjálfið svo samofið þessari stafrænu vörpun að við erum hætt að greina á milli? Er það óeðli að vera ekki sítengdur? \nEftir situr spurningin: Upplifðir þú þessa sýningu ef þú varst bara í símanum að taka myndir? Eða var skjalfesting stafræna sjálfsins til þess að þú raunverulega upplifðir miklu meira en hinir?

Connective tissues bind structures together\, form a framework and support for organs and the body as a whole\, store fat\, transport substances\, protect against disease\, and help repair damages. They occur throughout the body. They fill every intermediate part of our body. Connective tissue is essential for the body because it maintains organ shapes and serves as a water reservoir. \nWith this metaphor\, we want to explore the connectivity and materiality that binds us together\, that connects our art making and the world in which we place art. The connective tissue that connects the abstract and the concrete\, the real and the narrative\, the visible and the invisible. We want to discover the quality of transition. The transition of the space\, the air and the light in between\, their importance is not given much attention. DESCRIPTION:A! is a four-day international performance festival held every year\, now for the fifth time. The festival is a collaboration between Akureyri Art Museum\, Akureyri Culture Society\, Akureyri Theater\, LÓKAL International Theater Festival\, Reykjavík Dance Festival and Icelandic Art Centre. \nA variety of performances and theatre-based projects of all kinds are on the agenda. Participants are young up-and-coming artists as well as experienced and well-known performance artists and theatre professionals.
