Reykjavík Arts Festival

Reykjavík Arts Festival is a biennial multidisciplinary festival with a special focus on new commissions and the creative intersection of the arts. It presents, to the widest possible audience, exhibitions and performances of contemporary and classical works in major cultural venues and unconventional spaces throughout the city.
Reykjavík Arts Festival will take place 1-19 June 2022.
Since its inception in 1970, Reykjavík Arts Festival has invited hundreds of artists from all parts of the globe to perform or exhibit at the festival. Through this activity, the festival has helped to create a vast network of connections between national and international artists, been a catalyst for the creation of new works and a major force in the development of cultural diversity in Iceland.
Reykjavík Arts Festival hosts outstanding artistic creations from all corners of the world while also nurturing a powerful and vibrant relationship with its audiences, widening the circle to include as many as possible so that they may enjoy the arts on their own terms.
Reykjavík Arts Festival celebrates diversity and prioritises accessibility and respect for the environment in all decision making. Programming is driven by courage, professionalism, joy and big thinking.
Listahátíð í Reykjavík er þverfagleg listahátíð með áherslu á nýsköpun. Hún fer fram í hefðbundnum og óhefðbundnum rýmum um alla borg og teygir sig jafnframt út fyrir borgarmörkin.
Listahátíð í Reykjavík hefur verið leiðandi afl í íslensku menningarlífi frá stofnun árið 1970.
Hún var tvíæringur frá upphafi en á árunum 2005-2016 var hún haldin árlega. Frá árinu 2016 er hátíðin aftur orðin að tvíæringi.
Næsta hátíð fer fram 1.-19. júní 2022.
Mikil listræn fjölbreytni er einkenni Listahátíðar í Reykjavík. Hún vinnur með og leiðir saman opinberar stofnanir og sjálfstæða hópa listamanna á öllum sviðum menningarlífsins. Hún hefur beint frumkvæði að fjölda verkefna, í hefðbundnum og óhefðbundnum rýmum, er alþjóðleg listahátíð sem starfar á breiðum vettvangi. Listahátíð hefur starfað með eða flutt verk eftir mikinn fjölda listamanna.
